Neal Boortz made some great points in response to Ford's announced need to cut up to 30,000 jobs in the next six years. Between the crippling union agreements and the United States punitive tax structure, american manufacturers are at a severe disadvantage. Sure a big part of the problem was due to overemphasis on SUV production. In this strong economy, if Ford were free of corporate tax burdens and were free to reorganize for efficiency without regard for what the union wants, they would be thriving and providing more jobs than ever.

Key Points

Corporations don't really pay taxes, they collect them. Taxes are a cost of business that is reflected in the end products price. This then makes that product less competitive in the world market. To say "lets just raise the taxes on corporations" is to say "lets just raise the price of America's products."

The UAW is not the employer. Loyalty to a union instead of a company will not generate the most rewards. Sure, collective bargaining has it's place, but when you continually protect the unproductive, while demanding high benefits and pay based on union membership...it hurts that synergy. Less wealth is created, thus less survivability.

No matter your political leanings you surely you are happy for the Iraqis today as they celebrate the freedom to elect their own government. I heard there were turnouts of 70%. In spite of threats of violence at the polls, they stand in line thrilled at the way their world is changing. Our country, in fact many nations, have spent resources and lives in part to help bring this about. One can only wonder why the general media is not celebrating the birth of a new democracy

Fair Tax Book Supports Hurricane Survivors

Neil Boortz announced on his show today that he and Congressman John Linder will be directing all proceeds "The Fair Tax Book" for the next 2 weeks to assist hurricane victims. Boortz had already been donating his piece of the profits to charity. In addition to helping out those in need a further impetus to buy the book and pass it around is the recent resistance by K Street lobyists. Without a tax system that can be manipulated for political favors, a major source of political campaign money will dry up. Gee it would be a shame to see a decrease in nasty political ads!

Is January here yet? I don't even know if my TV works anymore. I catch news online and from the radio, and don't know of any good reason to risk turning on the TV again. I think I'll wait till it's time for Jack to save the world again.

Okay, Al Gore was playing the political attack games along with everyone, but I must give him credit and thanks for helping airlift about 270 Katrina evacuees. At the urging of a doctor who saved his son's life, Gore flew on and underwrote the $50,000.00 cost of two private charters from New Orleans Sept. 3rd and 4th.

Kennedy, Schumer, Leahy, Durbin, and Feinstein... (okay there is one queen of bloviation on the panel) they will all wailing this week about judicial ideology, the importance of maintaining the courts progress to the left and questioning Judge Roberts to find some evidence of his being a conservative.

At his confirmation hearing Monday, chief justice nominee John Roberts already answered the questions he will suffer hundreds of times. "I come before the committee with no agenda. I have no platform. Judges are not politicians."

The stark contrast between politicians and a non-political judge will be on on display.

Sure half my income is confiscated by the government, you only own the property your house is built on till the city decides it has a better use for it...
